Tummy Time and More

It’ Sunday and it means that Daddy didn’t have to go to work today.  Not only it means that I got to spend more time with Daddy, it also means that I had to spend less time with Addison.  Because when Daddy is around, he would take Addison away from the ‘girls,’ so that we can have some peaceful time like this…

However, peaceful time like this could also mean more ‘Tummy Time’ for me.  I’m not a big fan of Tummy Time because it makes feel very tired.  Well, Mommy didn’t seem to care about my fatigue that much!

Once in a while, Daddy and Addison would come by to check on us.  And when I’m not sleeping, Daddy would usually pick me up and stand in front of the mirror to talk to me.  Why?  Because he thinks that I like talking to him, through a mirror.  And if I make some noise, he likes it even more.  But you know what, I may be comfortable standing in front of a mirror (as with most girls), I may not be as comfortable when there’s a camcorder pointing at me.  Check out this video below if you don’t know what I meant.

But if the camera is not within sight, then it would be a totally different story!

I Passed My First Tests!

The majority of the test results have returned to Dr. Liu’s office, except for the urine and G6PD test.  Dr. Liu called to inform Mommy that all the results looked good!  Dr. Liu told Mommy to stop breastfeeding completely, until my Jaundice is completely clear.  We are to return to Dr. Liu’s office, again, in a week’s time to check up on my color.

Addison and Me

You know, sometimes, when my Brother is not all jealous and loud, I do think he’s a very nice.  Unfortunately, I just don’t get to see the nice side of him that often.

Getting My Blood Drawn

Daddy took the day off today to take me to the lab to get my blood drawn.  It was a mistake on my part, to expect that there is such a place/lab that is children-friendly.  Hey, if my Doctor’s specialty is children, shouldn’t a children specific lab exists too?

The moment Daddy and I step inside this lab, I knew I was in trouble.  I did not see a single kid around.  Not only I’m the youngest in the crowd, I might even be the youngest EVER patient stepping inside this lab.  Come to think of it, Daddy could even be the second youngest person there!  Within seconds, Daddy covered my stroller with a blanket and we hid out in a corner that is furthest away from the crowd.

Although it was still an hour away from the posted ‘lunch hour,’ we soon learned that we were the last patient for the morning.  And after waiting for more than an hour, my name was called.  (By then, Daddy and I were the only ones sitting in the waiting area.)

Nurse:  “Hi, how are you?”

Daddy:  “Very well.  Thanks.”

Nurse:  “That’s a lot of blood work for a 2-month old.  Please take off her clothes”

Daddy:  “Okay.”

Nurse:  “Uh.  Jaundice?”

Daddy:  “Yes.  Are you going to draw the blood from under her foot, like how they did it while she was still in the hospital?”

Nurse:  “Oh no!  There are too many blood works ordered here… it won’t be possible to do it from her foot.  It has to come from the vein in her arm.”

Since Mommy did not come along, video taping wasn’t possible.  So considered yourself fortunate for not having to watch what happened next.  First, it took the nurse more than 10 minutes to locate my vein.  She tried my left arm, my right arm, then back to my left arm.  She just couldn’t ‘feel’ it.  It was until Daddy suggested…

“They usually put something warm over her… (to increase the blood flow, so that the vein can be spotted.)”

Nurse:  “Ah, let’s try that.”

Nurse:  “Please be patience with me.  I want to make sure that I only have to stick the needle in her once!  Therefore, I want to make sure that I have the vein accurately.”

It worked!  She did catch the vein in one try!  Just to give you an idea on how much blood was drawn from my little 11-pound body, please take a look at this video below.

First of all, I don’t know that person in the video.  But do you see that tube that was used to collect the blood sample?  FIVE tubes of blood were drawn from me!

Of course I did cry!  What are you thinking?

Here are a few pictures of my ‘injury’ that I sustained from the blood draw.  Can you tell I was not in a good mood when these pictures were taken?

Dr. Liu Called Back?

Dr. Liu called called Daddy later this afternoon and told Daddy that she spoke to a specialist about my Jaundice situation, and the specialist recommended further blood tests and an urine test, just to make sure everything is okay, especially my Liver.  Dr. Liu asked Daddy to stop by her office to pick up a kit to collect urine, and to pick up a form for the blood test at the lab.  Here’s the list of blood work that was being ordered!

Lactic Acid Dehydrogenase (LDH)
Haptoglobin
Bilirubin
Reticulocyte Count
Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency

Yup, if you took the time to read through all the links provided above, you’ll have a rather clear idea of what the Doctor is focusing one.

No, you don’t have to thank me for this valuable medical education.

My 2-Month Check-up

Today is my 2-month check-up.  My previous visit to the doctor should had been my 1-month check-up, yet, I’ve been making a lot of un-scheduled visits, due to my Jaundice condition.

As of last visit, Dr. Liu said my color looked a lot better and she said I could stop the blood test.  That was about 2 weeks ago.  So today, when we arrived at Dr. Liu’s office, one of the questions that Daddy asked was:

“Does her color look ‘okay’ to you?”

Dr. Liu’s answer was ‘No, not really.’  But she also commented that there isn’t much that anyone could do.  Dr. Liu said there is no need to check-in to a hospital.  There is no medication for it.  And I’m already too old to be sitting under those lights for newborn.  The only thing that Mommy and Daddy could do is to stop breast-feeding.

Unfortunately, that didn’t save me from injections.  Part of the routine 2-month check-up is to take the immunization shots.  And ‘ouch!’  They were painful.  Below are 2 videos.  The first one shows me getting weight-in, and the second one shows the nurse sticking that long needle in me.

I Miss You, Daddy!

I especially miss you saying ‘Hello, baby girl!’ to me.  See how happy I am when you’re around to talk to me?

WHERE?

“Where are we going?”

That’s exactly what I was thinking when Addison first told me that we were going to Disneyland.

“Can I just stay home?”

“Oh, Daddy will be there?  I guess that’s okay.  I’ll go.”

Just when I thought the beach was hot and boring, this Disney place totally beats the beach.  I was restrained to the stroller at all time while I was at Disneyland.  There were too many people, too hot, too much noise, and too much sunshine.  Not to mention that there were not enough ‘holding’ time, not enough ‘picture’ time, not enough ‘feeding’ time, ‘diaper’ time, etc.  So why does everyone else seemed to have so much fun?  I don’t have a clue.  Oh, did I mention that Addison was no where to be found most of the time while at Disneyland?  Not that I have a problem with it.  I’ve heard that he posted some videos and pictures over at his site.  Sorry, I’m just not interested.

Here are some pictures taken from my first trip to Disneyland.  These pictures are as boring as the visit.  Half of the pictures were taken in the hotel room anyway.  I could have strike the same pose at home, in Daddy’s bed, if that’s what he wanted.  Please don’t take me back!

Morning Routines Without Daddy

Life in the mornings, without Daddy being around, has been a challenge.  Why?  Because Mommy and I are now left with Addison to deal with EVERY MORNING!  Back then, when Daddy was around, Daddy always took Addison away so that Mommy and I would get some peace and quiet time.  Not anymore!

I wonder if I agree to another younger brother or sister, would Daddy get to stay home again?

Just a Few Pictures

Here are a few pictures taken from yesterday.  Even without Daddy being around, Mommy still managed to find time to take pictures of me.  How wonderful!

Where is Daddy?

When I woke up this morning, Daddy was nowhere to be found.  I was a bit worried because Daddy has always been around when I wake up every morning.  Where’s Daddy?

I later learned that Daddy was kidnapped by a stupid rat called Mickey.  Addison said if Daddy doesn’t return to the rat-trap, Daddy couldn’t bring back money to buy chocolates and cookies for him.  Hello?  What do I care if Addison doesn’t get any chocolates and cookies.

I want my Daddy back!  … and where’s the rat poison?

Grandma Loves Me Too!

Grandma came to visit yesterday and spent the night at our house.  Obviously, Addison thinks that the only reason why Grandma stayed last night was because of him.

I say, ‘Whatever!’

If you take a look at these videos, you can easily tell that who is Grandma’s real favorite.  And let me give you a hint… it’s not the one who is making all kinds of noise in the background!

Was I sleeping with my eyes opened?

Do You Think He Knew that I was Sleeping?

This was not the first time that Addison did that to me while I was taking a nap.  He just likes to climb up and down the couch, and while doing that, his arms or legs often comes within centimeters of hurting me.  Can someone tell him to stop?

And I’ve said it many many times… STOP ASKING HIM TO KISS ME!

Not Another Day at the Beach!?

Most kids would be jumping for joy when they learn that they are going to the beach.  But not me!  Why?  Let’s start by taking a quick look at what ‘visiting the beach’ means to my Brother

Fun, right!?

Now, this is what visiting the beach means to me!

6 pictures totaled.

No, the camera didn’t stop working.  Neither did the camcorder.

There were only 6 pictures because I’m just too young to go to the beach.  If Addison’s first visit to the beach was just a week ago, why do I have to be dragged to the beach when I’m not even 2 months old?

The sunshine was too strong for my eyes, and my skin; The wind was too strong for my liking; And the temperature was too hot for me too!  Just leave me at home!

The only positive thing that I can get out of, by going to the beach, was that I get to wear this cute little dress… underneath layers of clothes (later.)

By the way, where’s my ‘yellow polka-dot bikini?’

Why Do You Think I’m Crying?

Whoever taught Addison how to give kisses, should have waited… for at least 15 years or so.  Somehow, Daddy always thought that I was crying because of something else.  And no, Addison’s kisses won’t stop me from crying!  How many times do I have to cried out loud to tell you!?

Dining Out

Today, we went out to have dinner with my Grandparents, Aunt Annie, and Uncle Joseph.

Here’s a video of Grandpa holding me in his arms.  You can also see that my Brother, Addison, make an appearance towards the end of the video.  Don’t you think my Brother, even sitting still with Aunt Annie, looks like an expert in trouble-making?

Here’s a video of Aunt Annie holding me in her arms.  Once again, my Brother stoke the camcorder towards the end of this video, again!  Why does he always have to steal the show?

Here are a few pictures of Grandpa holding me in his arms, without Addison interrupting the show…

And if you don’t believe me that my Brother, Addison, is a trouble maker, you might want to check his post on this evening’s dinner here.

Just a Few Pictures

Here are a few pictures taken from yesterday.  I just want to show-off this beautiful piece of fashion that I’m wearing.

Little Miss Sunshine

I know Dr. Liu prescribed some natural sunlight time to clear my Jaundice.  But do Mommy and Daddy had to be so extreme?  Taking me to the beach for sunshine?  Addison hasn’t even been to a beach until he was… today!  Why couldn’t I wait 22 months before taking me to the beach?  Not that I have a problem with the beach, I just have a problem with the fact that I couldn’t be running on the sand, just like what Addison did!

Wait a minute!  That’s a very nice outfit that Mommy picked out for me!  Okay, I’ll just settle for a boring day at the beach then.  Here are some pictures taken from today.

When Addison is Not Around…

It usually means that the weekend has arrived, again, whenever I get to spend some quality time with Mommy.  It was no different on this fine Saturday morning.  I don’t exactly recall where Daddy and Addison were at this particular moment.  All I cared was that Addison was not around.  Look, I even got to lay on his bed while Mommy was filming this video!
